Has anyone had an issue with HomePod sleep timers since the 14.4 update? Since updating my iPhone 12 mini and HomePod mini to 14.4, HomePod no longer allows me to set a sleep timer for anything shorter than an hour.

I used to be able to say “hey Siri - sleep timer 30 seconds” and it would stop playing music in 30 seconds. Now it just says “there are no sleep timers on HomePod.”

I can still say “hey Siri - stop in 30 seconds” and it works fine, but I’m wondering if anyone else is able to replicate my specific issue involving the words “sleep timer.”

Update:

Looks like everything works fine when you tell Siri to “set a sleep timer for ___.”

Prior to this update, you could get away with simply saying “sleep timer” instead of “set a sleep timer for...”

Obviously not a big deal. Just nicer to be able to say the fewest words and syllables possible when talking to Siri.

EDIT: looks like you can say “sleep timer for 30 seconds” and it works fine. Literally anything other than just the words “sleep timer” + a number.

What a stupid thread. I’m sorry, everyone.

Not at all. I just learned a new Siri command so I thank you for that 👍

I also find it annoying that virtually every iOS update changes Siri commands that used to work....as in you need to “re-learn” how to ask the command again in order for Siri to do what you want again.

Just been re-reading this thread and realised I don't actually know what a "sleep timer" is actually doing or for?

OP mentioned as an example he could set it for 30 seconds and it would stop playing music.......so, was music playing to start with, before the command was given or does the sleep timer start playing some soothing type music to try make you nod off?

Sorry.....this is a really thick question, but if you don't ask you will never learn eh. lol

It just stops the music.

At some point in the last few days, for whatever reason, this started working like it used to.

You can simply say “Hey Siri — sleep timer 30 minutes” and it’ll work like it used to.

Weird. Not sure if it has anything to do with the iOS 14.5 Beta 1 release or not.
