Having had to say goodbye to my Sonos system after a decade (the various speakers had issues staying joined to the home wi-fi mesh network, got fed up of the constants resets to get alarms etc back and working), I've moved the OG HomePod that was in the dining room through to the kitchen. I've replaced the bedroom Sonos speakers with HomePod minis and they've been great so far.

Measuring the HP mini cable for the dining room and it is somewhat shorter than the OG HomePod that was in there; the cable is no longer long enough to run behind the cabinet to the plug socket - the mini cable is 70cm/2ft or so short.. Amazon have plenty of USB-C extension cables (USB-C female to USB-C male), but I'm wary of cables not supporting power requirements etc.

Has anyone already solved this issue and care to recommend an extension cable that plays nice power wise with the Apple 20w USB-C charger & HomePod mini?

Can you just use a standard extension cord for the power adapter instead?

The more I read, the more it seems like this might be the safest solution - on the one hand it adds more bulk behind the cabinet in question when there is precious little space between it and the wall to start with. On the other hand, having read https://9to5mac.com/2020/12/28/homepod-mini-18w-charger/ it looks as though 18w is the absolute bare minimum a USB-C extension cable would need to support, ideally the full 20w from the Apple wall charger. I'd hate to get an extension cable to find it doesn't pass through enough power or potentially fails in the future if 18-20w is right on the tolerance level of an extension cable.

Exactly, you don’t want to run into the cable length limitations when it’s cheaper and easier to get a low-profile standard extension lead…
