HomePod HomePod no longer plays radio stations

So I got the HomePod for the first time about 2 months ago. Initially I was able to ask Siri to play any radio station and she would play it...... starting about 2 weeks ago I can’t get Siri to play radio stations anymore. She responds with “I can’t find that song in your library” I don’t have Apple Music.

I’ve tried every variation of the command, saying the same exact thing that worked before. I made sure it’s on the latest software version. Restarted it from settings.

Anyone else experience this or know how I can fix?

Did you specify Tune In as the source? "Hey Siri, Play *station name* on Tune In"

Does that work?

I'll try that, but I never had to specify the source before when it was working

"Hey Siri, play WFAN sports radio New York" and on it comes.

yeah I've tried saying that exactly and just about every other iteration. Nothing seems to work..... what I find really odd is that it was working just fine and then stopped.

Also to note it still works fine with siri on my phone

I haven't had to specify source either. This is intriguing. I am going to check mine when I get home. I have been using automations to play my radio stations at certain times of day and is working. Makes me wonder if there is a setting somewhere that is jacking your experience up. Of course I have had the "I can't find that" crap from Siri from time to time, but not permanently usually just have to try again. So irritating, good luck.

With me its always been spotty when I try to say fewer words. The more I say, the better chance Siri has to get it right.

I can say "Hey Siri, playlist, Coldplay Best-Of" and have it work most of the time. But just saying "Hey Siri, play WFAN" gets her confused, she doesn't know if its a song, artist, playlist, etc. and with millions of songs and artists in her database it's tough. Get the word "radio" in there for radio stations, get the word "live" in there for live podcasts.

"ESPN radio New York" "WFAN radio New York" "Mike's On live" "Colin Cowherd live"......those work.

I'll try to mess around with different stations, but I was always able to get it to play WFAN by saying "Play WFAN sports radio new york" or "play WFAN 101.9 FM Radio"

At first I thought maybe I had to have tunein or the iheart radio app installed on my phone, but I never had to before and it still works on my phone without any of those.

I don't have either of those apps and never have and my HomePod has worked very well.

The way you're saying the stations to Siri is the right way, so something else must be wrong. When I have problems with Siri, I unplug the HomePod from the wall, count to 30, and plug it back in, often clears out the cobwebs.
