As per title really. HomePod will do everything else (HomeKit commands, weather, time, reminders, timers &etc) but for the majority of the time but intermittently I only get "Sorry there's something wrong" or "Uh, oh. There's a problem" when I ask Sirir to play a radio station (TuneIn) or something from Apple Music.

Hardware affected/involved:

  • One HomePod stereo pair
  • One standalone HomePod
  • One HomePod Mini stereo pair
  • Virgin Media cable modem in modem mode only connected to
  • Linksys Velop Mesh Wifi

I have tried the following:-

  • Rebooted the cable modem (hard power cycle)
  • Rebooted the Linksys mesh (hard power cycle, all nodes)
  • Rebooted the HomePods (hard power cycle)
  • Restarted the HomePods (from the Home App)
  • Restarted two Apple TVs (just in case)
  • Signed out of and back in to my Apple account on the HomePods
I can start a radio station or music on my iPhone and successfully transfer to HomePod by tapping/proximity. Once this is done I can successfully tell Siri to "play this in the kitchen as well" or "play this everywhere" or "transfer this to the bedroom". I can also use iPhone Siri to start something on any of my HomePods by telling it to "Play xxxx in the [e.g.] bedroom"

So it appears the HomePods themselves can actually reach Apple Music but, when "faulty", can't initiate the request to Apple Music.

I'm baffled.

siri on the hompod doesn't seem as bright as siri on other devices.
I have homekit things, and a request that will repeatedly get "I have no clue what you're talking about" on the HomePod, will work perfectly moments later and on the first try on my watch or phone.

Not sure which way you signed out on the HomePod, but try a full reset and set up from "new" if that's not what you did.

if that doesn't work, 14.5 should be out in the few weeks, maybe it will fix your issue.

Also having this issue. Right after it says "Sorry there's something wrong" or "Uh, oh. There's a problem" it plays music streamed from my iPhone, so Apple Music isn’t playing native.
Did you find a solution?

i think it’s related. All of a sudden my HomePod cannot find any music. “I couldn’t find ‘The Rolling Stones’ on Apple Music” is what Siri is telling me. Yeah right. Granted, I didn’t mind as much when my daughter’s attempts to play her music we’re met with the same results.

Same for me. Was working yesterday but now it says it can’t find anything I ask it to play.
