Recently (two weeks) I’ve noticed HomePod only plays the first song when told to “shuffle an artist” or “play an album”. Any idea why or how to fix?

Not Apple Music. MP3’s in my music library synced by iTunes Match played on HomePod via Siri.

Asking Siri to play "______" on my HomePod Mini (little/reduced/compromised?) is absolutely (and exquisitely) un-helpful without an aMusic subscription.

I conducted my experiments, and (luckily) I am less than USD40 poorer....

Thanks for testing. I expected that. But always frustrating when things that worked six weeks ago stop working. I’ve had HomePods since the beginning it’s usually worked fairly well with this set up.

Siri is the worst. Anything where the interactions change without any way to know or learn is so frustrating. Voice controls are death.

I get the feeling that we're in a bit of a developmental hiatus; a lull between what-was, and what-will-be.

This feels very accurate which is part of why any change in behavior is so disappointing. Means they’re not even paying attention to current functionality.

I do believe that they are paying attention. It's just that our expectations are being built-up so much (AI-this, Smart-that), it seems like slow change 🤷‍♂️
