Hi there -

Does anyone know why I can only see the temperature/humidity readings from my HomePod Mini when I am connected to my home Wi-Fi network?

I can control other settings/appliances remotely over a 4G/5G connection on my iPhone, but it says the temperature sensor isn’t responding…

It’s driving me nuts!

I turned off Wi-Fi on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and using 5G cellular only my Home app still shows temperature and humidity settings for my HomePod mini. So it works on mine. Perhaps your cellular connection was too weak. Go to Settings —> Cellular and make sure you have it turned on for the Home app.

Yeah, home turned on in mobile data. Can also control everything else connected through the home app remotely on mobile data… just not the temperature/humidity sensor on the HomePod. Weird.

Just in case anyone else is having the same issue, I seem to have stumbled on the solution.

My AppleTV in a different room was set as the Home Hub... but as soon as I disabled that on the AppleTV itself it reverted to another of my 1st gen HomePod's... and now it works.

No idea why. But hey.

I don't think that is necessarily your issue as my HomePod mini is not set as the Hub, my ATV 4K 2022 is and I still see Temp/Humidity from HomePod mini. It is probably just the result of crappy programming by Apple. Everything they program these days is riddled with bugs.

Mine won't even show locally. Probably because I'm not on the "new architecture" but who knows...

You need the iPhone, iPad, or Mac to be at the latest FW. So verify they are at iOS or iPadOS 16.3 or Ventura 13.2. Otherwise they won't show the HomePod mini temp/humidity. The HomePod mini also needs to be at the latest FW version of 16.3.

Yep everything's on 16.3 so all I can think is that maybe the new architecture is also a requirement. Not a big deal since I have Hue and Ecobee sensors everywhere anyway. Would be cool to see data from the minis though.

Not sure what you are referring too by “new architecture”, but if by that you mean you only have the original OG HomePod, then it doesn’t even have the temp/humidity sensor, so of course it won’t work. If you have a HomePod mini or the new HomePod 2 (fullsize), then they have the sensor and the latest hub abilities.

Obviously that is NOT a requirement since temp/humidity seems to work fine on my HomePod mini. It will never work on the OGs though.
Why do you say "Obviously"? Are you saying you didn't upgrade your Home when 16.2 came out? Because that would be helpful information.
