HomePod Homepod with music as alarm clock

Hi,

If I have a playlist on my iPhone, can I ask the homepod to play said playlist at 8h30 the following morning?

That's pretty much all I want it to do.

Should I get the mini or regular? Are there alternatives (Echo, Alexa, Google Nest, etc.)

Yes this can be done with either an automation in the Home app or the Shortcuts app.

With regards to your other question, it depends on your requirements. Are you looking for just an alarm? A capable speaker that can fill a whole room with quality sound? A hands free smart home or digital assistant? Does price affect your decision? What your digital assistant of choice is? Nobody has the HomePod mini yet so everything other than what Apple announced is speculative.
