And it looks like Apple didn't get the message from the f.up. from iPadOS 15 where they change the spacing. The icons are so small (very good) and there is so much air around them.

You do have a resizing option. But it seems like this might be limited to M1 iPads. Can someone confirm?
I do and removing them does not change anything in the icon spacing. It was introduced with iPadOS 15, and it's hideous.
