Hong Kong warranty exchange info?

i realize that iphones are only warranted in countries where they were purchased. as hong kong only has an online store, does that mean you have to ship the unlocked phones directly to apple for an exchange? or can you exchange them through their official resellers? i've heard that the carrier 3 doesn't sell them unlocked, do their other resellers?
