So I'm browsing around for free stuff on craigslist and see the "erotic" section under services. Click. "must be 18 or over blah blah". Click.

Damn there are a lot of hookers on here! Isn't this supposed to be, like, illegal? I don't mean there are a few, I mean there are a ton. Heck, some of them look like they weigh a ton. Nasty. Anyway, there are a bunch of words they use and I feel like such a newb not knowing what any of it means. Here are a few:

Greek
GFE
French
DATY
BBBJ (I can guess the BJ part, but what is BB?)
BBW
DFK

And why do they all spell their phone numbers? "Seven Six Two..."
And why do they all say "no blocked calls"?

Not saying I agree with this activity. Hell, I really don't care either way. Good way to get an STD I guess. Kind of sad for the girls, really. What do you think? I'm looking at Portland, Oregon craigslist.

Heh, I think I can guess some of the acronyms. And that I'll regret having replied to this thread. :eek:

GFE = good for everything?
BBW = big, beautiful woman

Google will tell you the acronyms pretty quickly.

I would imagine they don't want any web bots (or worse) to pick their phone numbers up and start telephone soliciting them...

No blocked calls means they want to see your phone number on caller ID before they answer. It's a small measure of protection in a job where the risks of robbery, injury and death is way higher than normal.

If you don't already know what most of those terms mean, you probably shouldn't.

And there's no reason to feel sad for most those girls on craigslist, only the ones whom are being exploited (which are fewer than you may think)
 
There's a site called punternet which is UK based which is for 'johns' to recommend girls that they've used.

You can search by any part of the UK and find a list of local girls and 'user reports' of their services and styles. I read about it, somewhat disbelievingly, in a broadsheet newspaper but it appears to be remarkably tasteful for its subject matter.

Oh yeah, and they have a glossary of acronyms and abbreviations to help those trying to read/write reviews. It was... um... illuminating! :eek:
 
Kind of OT but I had another thought. Prostitution is illegal yet porn actors/actresses are also being paid to have sex with someone - so why is that not illegal? Is it that they can claim they are actors/actresses and that the fact that they have sex is 'part of the role'?

Yes. They're being paid for their performance, not the intercourse itself.

i guess 'cause they're both getting paid by another party, and not one of them paying the other. like i said, i'm just guessing :)

Probably differs by country but in the UK isn't it the act of soliciting that is illegal, rather than prostitution? You can happily have sex for money but as soon as you offer sex for money then it becomes illegal.

I suppose if you are in a movie you are being paid to 'act'. I imagine that then gets covered by obscenity laws.

I think you're right - there is a distinction between being paid (or paying) for sex, and soliciting to be paid (or pay) for sex.

I would guess the distinction is very fine in some cases, but it's there nonetheless.
 
This is like the paid version of Adult Friend Finder. I see nothing wrong with any of it. As long as they are over 18, tested for STDs, and carry no cheese 'down there', I'm good to go.

That's interesting, because I've always wondered how they get away with having "Erotic massage - young busty 18 year old" adverts in the back of the local paper. Presumably because they are advertising 'massage', and that just happens to end up in sex (in the eyes of the law).

I suppose as craigslist is much like newspaper ads, they can do the same thing, although I don't know about US law. (Not that I know a lot about UK law, for that matter ;) )

Well in the US it covered by the first amendment because it falls under 'art' therefore freedom of expression. from the case law, I believe (heard in passing on the news) the line drawn because in pornography the actors do not derive pleasure from the act, they are rather professionals.
 
Unless I'm at Heathrow, in Delaware or shopping from iTMS, I get suspicious about anything that I don't pay tax for. So unless they charge tax... :rolleyes: and speaking from experience, they don't (not first hand. The experience that is)

Yeah, well, those who don't have sex for pleasure are soul-less dolls. Rich, soul-less dolls perhaps.

what does that have to do with it? although it does happened, a producer is an actor as well..
