Hi I am new to MAC and love it but am finding difficulty in hooking my screen to the laptop. I would like to close the laptop and have the screen be seen on the cinema screen but each time I close the laptop it turns the screen off as well. I have looked for options but can not seem to figure it out. Appreciate your help.

Do you have an external keyboard and mouse? If you do, then hook it up to the screen, and shut the lid.

Then double hit the space bar.

If you have a BT keyboard and mouse, make sure the Mac is set to wake from BlueTooth.

I think you also have to have the MBP connected to external power

It was not clear in your post - do you have a MacBook/Pro/Air on the ACD or another laptop on ACD (e.g. Dell). If you have a MacBook, I'll tell you what I do - I will quickly open the screen lid to a gap of about 1 inch (~2.5 cm) and close it about two seconds later, once the screen goes blue.

This works for a MacBook (Feb 2008 rev MacBook and a Aug 2006 rev 23 inch ACD).
