I am new to macs and have only just bought the mac pro with 30" cinema display. I love the mac and all the software that I have on it but I am an Autocad user and want to use my laptop with Autocad installed but pipe it through to the 30" mac screen. Now I know I wont be able to run it at the full optimum HD resolution that the mac screen is capable of but I would be happy to just make use of the big screen by hooking up a cable from my HP laptop to the Mac screen. My laptop is an HD pc.
Is there any way this can be be done please?

If your HP has a DVI port, you can connect the Cinema Display directly to it. If it doesn't (like its an old HP), you would need a VGA -> DVI adapter.

Another alternative...purchase VMWare Fusion or Parallels and install Windows on a Virtual Machine. Then install Autocad on the Windows VM and run it on your Mac.
