Hey all.

I'm considering running an HDMI cable around 50 feet as well as a toslink for audio from my macbook to HDTV

Will this cable length reduce quality of either? Especially considering I'm going to get a cheaper, more reasonably priced cable from monoprice?

Thanks for any info. This isn't a necessity for me but it was something I thought would be nice to have the option without having to move the computer

I think you should be okay, but you are getting close to the limit. In my case I have a 15-meter HDMI cable snaking from my electronics closet to the plasma tv, and the signal is fine. My suggestion is to purchase the candidate HDMI cable (all 50 feet) and before even unraveling it, just hook up the two ends to a computer and display and see if you get a picture. If not, then return the cable.
