Hooking Up USB Drive to iMac

Hey Ya.

I have an external drive that connects via USB. I loaded it with music from my laptop, unplugged, and plugged it into my iMac. The iMac does not see the USB drive.

Rather new to Mac, so if you know how to set this up, tell me in EASY steps please!

It should just work. Only problems i can think of are that it may be draining too much power and need plugging in to a powered hub, or it's formatted in NTFS and the iMac isn't recognizing it.

Or it's actually mounting OK and just not showing up on your desktop because Finder preferences are set to not show it. Open Finder and see if it appears in the drive list in the top left pane.

Fropm your liost of what COULD go wrong, I found a match. I am SURE it is NTFS... so that is a no go, huh...

(I plugged it directly into the iMac, so the hub thing is not it...)
