A two-hour lockdown at Horizon High School in Scottsdale ended without incident on Monday morning after a student reported a weapon on the campus.
An announcement on the school's website said all students and staff were safe.
One of students had reported seeing a male teenager with the gun around 8:30 a.m., according to officials from the Phoenix Police Department.
Crews searched the school and surrounding area for the gunman, but did not find any suspects at the scene near 56th Street and Greenway.
Police said they do not think the suspect is a student at Horizon, but he is described as 5 foot 7 inches tall, 135 to 140 pounds with dief blonde hair and a green jacket.
Horizon is in the Paradise Valley Unified School District. According to their website, there are 2,300 students enrolled at the school.

I'm a student at Horizon, and we were in 2nd period when this happened, so here's my part of the story.
When the lockdown was announced my English teacher immediately locked the door, and did what is required in lockdown. We continued watching Lord Of The Flies, and when it was over, we pretty much whipped out iPods and Cell phones. It sort of scared me, not knowing whether or not we were truly safe. We took it quite lightly, until I read this online. I'm really glad nothing happened- both of my parents live downtown, and my cell phone was dead, so I'd've been stuck for a while.
There were loads of crazy rumors around my school though (Bombs, Ninjas, Hiding in the ceiling) which were amusing to hear.
