Horizonal screen...

Occasionally my IPX comes up with a horizonal display which is very annoying to get back to vertical. I'm running iOS 11.2.1. Is there some setting that I can change to avoid this ?

Did you mean landscape? You can tilt the device to display portrait or launch an app to force it to portrait and pull down the CC to lock and tap on the circular lock toggle to lock the screen orientation to portrait only. App such as games can override the lock from portrait to landscape orientation though only when the app is in the foreground
