HELP! I captured an hour's worth of digital footage using my
Canon MVX 460 Mini DV camera. The footage all has five horizontal bars or lines across it.

The footage is completely unusable. What do i do?
What caused it?

thats digital for you.

its either there, or its not.

in your case, its not.

somewhere, either on the tape itself, or during the capture from tape to computer, the digital information got messed up.

if its on the tape, you can chalk this one up to "youre screwed", as in you cant fix it.

what im seeing is the digital equivalent of the wavy/static/odd-coloring from a worn/ripped/crinkly VHS tape.

Saved!

In desparation I bought a cleaning tape and cleaned the heads of the video camera. It seemed to make absolutely no difference.
So I recorded 15 seconds of me testing the tape, and voila! It seems to have reset something and it's working now. Weird!

I think it's time I got another camera, though. This one seems flaky
