Horizontal Lines Across Screen?

when I move the lid to open and close it I get horizontal marks across the screen.

Is this hardware or software related?...do I need a new screen/graphics card/screen and base connecting leads?

Since it's complete, uncut lines, I'd say it's hardware related, even if it's only at the connections level.

If you have an Apple store near you, I'd bring it in for a verification or even possibly a replacement. Just don't forget to transfer your data and delete the old one.
