Horizontal lines on cursor at startup

Hello This morning I started up my Old MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 snow leopard and got a blue screen with these little horizontal lines where the cursor is.
Tried restarting and zapping P-ram but it still won’t get past that screen.
Any ideas?
( see attached picture)

Am I in big trouble?

Thanks for any assistance given.
