Just got my iPhone 13 and ordered the new Wallet and MagSafe Battery for store pickup. Ordered Friday night for pickup Saturday. Apple website made me choose a date and time slot. I picked 11:15-11:30. Went to leave about 10am since im an hour+ away and my order still showed processing but left anyway to make the time slot. So I get to the store at 11:20 and order still shows processing and not ready for pickup so I wait until 11:30 (end of the time slot) and still nothing so I head up to the door of the store where the shopping and pickup line is and inform the person out front that I had a 11:15-11:30 time slot and that it has just passed without my order being ready. His immediate response is "well you can't pick it up if it's not ready can you?" I was like I understand that but I had a time slot I live an hour away and to be here during said slot I had to leave before it showed ready and it still doesn't. For a normal order with no time window id wait for it to be ready but if I had waited for that and say it showed ready 30 mins prior to the slot I wouldn't have been able to leave and make the window. After explain that he just repeats "well you can't pick it up if its not ready can you" at that point I was disgusted in his attitude and said whatever ill cancel my order and walked away. Went out to the parking lot and called the store to speak to a manager. He informed me that time slots should have been disabled for that day (had my email with the date and slot it made me select) so error on their part not mine. I told him what happened at the door and he said that should have never happened (no duh) and that my order was still processing on the back end for some reason and he couldn't expedite it. But unlike the employee at the door he had a solution and recommend I just cancel the items and checked to make sure they where still in stock. They where in stock so he told me come back and he brought them up and let me purchase them in store.

I’m sorry that you had to go through that experience, but I’m glad you decided to call and the Manager gave you an alternative solution and that your hour drive was not completely wasted.

Like I understand the can’t pickup till it’s ready but if I’m required to pick a time slot to pick it up common sense would tell you it would be ready during that time. Woulda said forget it and gone to Best Buy but they haven’t had the new wallets.
 
I'm sorry you had such a negative experience buying in-store; Customer service can be hit or miss and rude people can be found on both ends. I had an iPhone 5 that had a bulging battery, and I decided to "upgrade" to the SE(first generation) long after it had already been out, and attempted to buy in an Apple store but couldn't get any Apple employee to assist; They seemed far more interested in hanging out and talking with one another. Trying to get one of their attention seemed to be impossible. When someone finally came up and asked, I told them I'm just going to order on-line. I rarely go in there to buy anything since most of my computers have been BTO.

Wish the ordering and distribution system could've gone smoother in your case, and the employee definitely could've handled that better/differently- probably chalk it up to the crush of people they had to deal with in the past few hours, and his/her patience and empathy pretty low.
 
It’s good that the manager managed to help you and you still managed to get your new items. I have never had an experience like that at an apple store and I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. Sounds like the employee had a rough day and took the first opportunity to say “no” to a customer 🙈……. Never should have happened but I’m glad they sorted it in the end. Enjoy your new items. What is the new wallet like? I’m considering buying one…
