Hello guys! This is mostly a vent, but I’m not sure if this Apple genius employee is right, or I should get a second opinion?

So, my right side USB C port has one that is loose and the rest are pretty firm. I already had the USB ports replaced 5 months ago and the one that I use the most (to charge) is too loose again. I usually sit on the couch side ways, so I have it plugged in on the right side, because on the other side of the couch the outlet won’t reach. I usually have my mouse and charger plugged in that is on a laptop tray.

So now the cable can easily come out if I move a certain way which is unacceptable for a laptop that I owned for 2 years (I have Apple care + BTW).

I brought it in and he said that it’s still within spec and the other 3 work perfectly fine and basically rushed me out of there.

The issue like i said is that I need the 2 ports working on one side and if I put it on the left side it will “kink” the charger since it’s not like the older safemag chargers which is flat and can be good against tight corners.

Should I bring it back and complain?

Thanks.

I have had MASSIVE differences in service from one Apple Store to the next. Night and day. One, I put a complaint in the only time I went, the other treats me like royalty - and has consistently for years and years. So I go to the one that treats me better.

One thanked me for being a loyal Apple customer for X years with AppleCare+ and replaced my device within 6 mins, the other told me there was no problem and acted like I was inconveniencing them, when I insisted, they "fixed" it and ended up breaking the device completely after waiting for hours (spent an hour waiting after arriving for my appointment).

As far as the USB C thing... my MBP (I've had for over a year) - noticed a large variance in USB C tightness and it has changed significantly over time. If I was you, I'd just buy a longer cable. :/

^ Agreed 90%.

I would try again at a different Apple store. Can confirm that it’s night and day depending on the location and who’s helping you. More so the latter.

Wow that's really surprising. Take it back in and speak with someone else if the store isn't too far away. A good rep will take care of you without issue.

As mentioned get a longer cable or do a search for:
"magnetic power cord for macbook pro"
Any number of options and Prices.
First get the port fixed. :)
