I'm not sure why, but since around 2 weeks ago my computer has started to lag and give me the beach ball for a few seconds at a time when using Safari, constantly. Around 90% of my RAM is being used, and my CPU gets max'd out when using Safari. I tried scaling back the number of open tabs, it didn't really help at all. It's a mid-2010 15" i7 MBP. I upgraded the RAM from 4 to 8GB and installed an SSD which made it snappy again, but now it's being abhorrent again when browsing the web.

What's wrong with my laptop??? Can this be fixed? :-(

What I do -- may be of some use to you, or none:

First, use tabs sparingly, or not at all. I realize this is my opinion only, but I NEVER use tabs, and open "new pages" in "new windows" when I need to.

Also something else to do (I do this):
1. Create an alias of the "home/library/Safari" folder and put the alias somewhere easily accessible to you.
2. Periodically quit Safari, then...
3. Open the folder and hit "command-a" to select all, then...
4. Command-click on "extensions" and "bookmarks.plist" to DESELECT them, then....
5. DELETE everything else in the folder.
6. Then restart Safari -- fast 'n' clean again!

My opinion only.
Others will disagree.
Some will disagree vehemently.
