i was planning on using hostgator as my host but when i went to register my domain it said it would cost $15 per year..that is more than dreamhost, more than bluehost and a lot more than godaddy

godaddy is only charging 6 bucks for the same domain name why is there such a big price difference?

apparently hostgator justified the price difference by saying they use "cpanel" brand management software whereas godaddy does not?

how importnt is it to register ur domain with your actual hosting company?

Not at all. Domain registration is completely unrelated to hosting.
