I want to buy a 980 GTX but i have a little problem to understand a "thermal feature"

I wish to buy a cool and quiet GPU with the option to flash by MacVidCards.
In his Shop is a EVGA 980 ACX 2.0. OK, two fans, nice cool card, ready to buy…

but on the second look…

...the card is getting cool, but the hot air is blown directly onto the logicboard and the battery. The Reference design carries the heat out from the housing.

Now what is the better solution?

Amazingly, the ACX cards run so cool that the fans don't run at idle. Internet surfing doesn't turn them on.

If you look at cMP case it is called "cheese grater" for a reason. The case fans pull in air from left and blow it to the right. They have no issues with heat from cards like 980.

I Like the looks of the reference...yes, i run doorless since i bent my door and it no longer fits. temps are slightly different but not a big deal.

I have an ATI 6870 in my Mac Pro 2008 whose power draw and TDP is in the ballpark of the GTX 970/980 (don't have the exact numbers handy). The fans barely run - I'm sure the computer's fans are doing more, if not most or all, of the work.

i think, nobody understand what i exactly want.

Is the Mac Pro motherboard getting very hot with an ACX 2.0 cooling system at the maked location? How hot is the outflowing air on the sides of the 980?

I understood perfectly what you were asking.

You are worrying about nothing.

Better to spend time worrying about starving puppies or getting hit by a meteor.

I've run perhaps 4 or 5 different graphics cards (both NVIDIA and AMD) in my 3,1 (battery is in a very similar location) and have never had overheating problems.

I think you're worrying too much.
