"Hot" partition external USB drive?

Sorry if this has been asked, i couldn't find it searching... Does anyone know how to partition an external USB HD without erasing the data on the drive? I have about 250GB free that I'd like to convert for Time Machine but I can't lose the data.

Anyone got any solutions?

partition magic ( need to install xp via bootcamp )

erm thats a windows app^^ i assume the OP meant a Mac OS X app presumably because this is a mac forum

try leopard's disk utility you can live parition without erasing data or you can use ipartition.

what about bootcamp, i know this is a mac forum but it even has a section
called "WINDOWS" on the mac
