Is hot spot 4.3 also good for 3GS ? Anyone knows ? I certainly hope so.

...excuse me for being naive but is it just me that doesn't see the point of this new 'personal hotspot' thing in ios 4.3?

We already have tethering so I don't really see what functions personal hotspot has over tethering?

is that a question?

i don't know what you're asking.

Personal Hotspot IS tethering. 3GS will be able to tether, just not through wifi hotspot.

...I'm asking - if we already have tethering on our iPhone 4s, what does personal hotspot offer over tethering? The only difference, that I can see, is one is wireless, one isn't......?!

Through tethering(USB or Bluetooth) you can only connect one device at a time.
The wifi hotspot should allow multiple connections at a time(Say iPad and MacBook and a iPod Touch)

Thanks you guys ! It'll be great to include 3GS. And why not ?

You should be able to wireless tether to anything that can use a wifi signal. So no iTunes involved. That's a big plus to me.

Simple... iPad.

Ipad couldn't tether and various other device couldn't tether. now if a device is wi-fi capable, then you're good as gold.

That means I can now save $20-35 a month and not get a 3G plan on my iPad

You have to pay an additional $20 per month to connect your IPAD to the Iphone Hotspot.

AT&T is changing the DataPro plan to 4GB for $25 and you pay an additional $20 for the Hotspot to up to 5 devices.

Total $45 per month for 4GB of data shared on all devices.

With the WiFi only IPAD you will save $5.

But will lose $130 upfront when you buy the iPad with 3G. Paying the $45 a month for the iPhone 4 hotspot is a much better deal as you can also use the internet for whatever else you'd like.
