Hotkeys Broken after 10.8.5 Supp. Update

It appears my entire top row of hotkeys (brightness/backlight/sound) hotkeys have stopped working properly following the 10.8.5 supplemental update. An eject icon has also appeared in the top menu. Is there some preferences option I can access to fix this? Using a 2013 MBA.
