I use S/PDIF out and use Spaces with iTunes on "screen 2". Is there a way to setup a hotkey so I can adjust the volume of iTunes? Would like to assign F10 and F11 since they don't function with S/PDIF anyway.

I see in itunes you can use Command Up and Down to adjust volume. However this only works when the program is active. How can I assign this (and change keys) so it works no matter what program is active (or no matter what screen I'm in)?

Apple Remote? Or Install QuickSilver - the answer to everything.
There are loads of free iTunes controllers about as well.

There are some things, like MP3 players, where it's hard to get anything but the best—most of us just want an iPod. But when it comes to something like an iTunes interface helper app, even if the shareware CoverSutra is the best, is there anything that makes it that much better than freeware alternatives like DeskTunes (original post), You Control: Tunes (original post), or the other handful of menu bar apps with iTunes integration? For my money, the answer is no. It's sort of a different app altogether, but I'd also highly recommend DockArt (original post).

You Control: Tunes looks good.

You Control: Tunes looks good.
I have a Mac Pro so the remote is out. I will look at QuickSilver and You Control
