hotmail IMAP on the iphone

hey guys I'm sure most of you know about this already, but I didnt until today. I have been waiting for Hotmail to be available with IMAP and not just pop3 then today I stumbled across this:

I know I know most of you probably already knew about this but save your old news comments, this is for those who might not know like I didnt.

Anyway this worked for me like a charm, my Hotmail account is now IMAP, i have all my folders and any changes sync back to my web hotmail account.

FWIW, Hotmail uses Exchange ActiveSync to sync, not IMAP.

I only mention that for the folks that may experience decreased battery life after setting Hotmail up per the article you linked to. Hotmail is going to fall under the "Push" setting on your iPhone (if you have it on), not the "Fetch" setting that most IMAP services fall under.

Hopefully your thread gets some attention. It amazes me when I run into friends/family that still have Hotmail/MSN setup as POP3!
