Hi All,

We have 2 iPhones, SE2 & XR, both running latest iOS 16 & iPad mini4 running iOS 15. I hotspot the iPad of the iPhones, but there are times when I only want it to go to the XR, however it always wants to go to the SE2. I have tried turning off hotspot on the SE2 & “forget this network “ on the iPad, but it still connects to the SE2.

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks, Kevin

Glad yours is still working!

My SE2 & my father’s same phone lost the use of Hotspot after June-July update and his wife’s older 6S still worked as a Hotspot, I thought because it couldn’t update to wifi6 like the newer ones could. Apple says they still support the older wifi and my Carrier says our Hotspots should work & and maybe a later iOS update will fix it!

Maybe an older iPhone open box without updates would work with that setting turned off?

I was having bad freezing issues with my phone that was bought used in Apr. 2021 and I phoned my Carrier about the hotspot problem and mentioned the freezing up issue and I heard heard the guy saying my contract wasn’t grandfathered and rec’d an increase of $20/M , but they did up my GB to 25 from 15.

Couldn’t afford that and besides Hotspot didn’t work so cancelled!

They mailed me an offer back to my 15GB deal in Nov with $10 less than I was first paying so of course I accepted and must have had a bad SIM card as it never freezes now!
In the winter I house sit so don’t really need a cell!

Anyway must be a Carrier issue as your Hot Spot works and now I wonder about SIM cards!
