Hotspot shield issues or other VPN suggestions

Hotspot shield worked fine on my computer up until 3 months ago, when it suddenly stopped working. I have uninstalled it several times and renewed my ip address all to no avail. As soon as I get a connection with hotspot shield all internet access freezes until I restart my computer. When I go to my parent's place and use hotspot shield with their internet (a different provider) it works fine. Any advice would be welcome.

If you know of any other VPN that would work I would appreciate it. All I want is to be able to watch US shows on my computer.

I use StrongVPN. It's a pay service but works a lot better then HotSpot in my opinion. I'm currently on the $55 a YEAR price...that's insanely cheap.

I'm in Japan and it allows me to bypass the bittorrent throttling here as well as watch Hulu.

I use VyprVPN. It works fine with my MAC and Windows.
