Hotspot without shared data plan

I'd like to enable hotspot for a couple of weeks on my phone and it seems that ATT only offers this with either a shared plan or with a $50
Data plan. I currently have no desire to change my grandfathered data plan. Is there anyway to force enable this on the phone?

Is it a grandfathered tiered plan or unlimited?
If so tiered data 5gb plan include tethering.

Only option (which I don't recommend) for grandfathared data is using a jail break app such as tetherme etc. I used to use tether me very light on my unlimited data. AT&T sent me a nasty gram saying I was using unauthorized tether and they are going to automatically switch me to a tiered plan if I didn't call and tell them i don't want it

Of course the jailbreak solution is for 5.1.1 or earlier devices

Grandfathered 2gb. I get a discount on this and rarely go over. No discount on 3gb for me.

Silly that they do not allow you to turn on tethering for a fee. They used to.
