House Design/Architecture software

Hello All

My family will be renovating our house soon and the other night me and my dad went to some stores (Barnes & Noble, Target, Wal*Mart) to look for some software to kind of give us an idea of what it might look like and to get different ideas. Much to our dismay all the programs were for Windows. My question is do you guys know of any good programs for Mac?

are you just talking about planning some basic ideas/sketching out stuff, but nothing really technical?
sketchup is very nice; i've used it at school and at home for stuff like that and it's quite easy to use.

I'm trying to download Sketchup but it won't let me because I don't have a company? And also it says my email address is invalid, which its not. Anyone else?
