examples of what it will look like... i did a little search and
came up with this pic...

i like it... i would get one... my 933 quicksilver isnt feeling
so quick anymore... but im sure the price of the imac will
make it a foolish item... since a powermac can be gotten
for not much more...

at any rate... i definately like it better than the current imac...

That's exciting! Boy, after seeing that pyramid POS, this looks like mana from heaven.

absolutely... that pyramid imac was so ugly... and besides
that... im sure the designers at apple wont simply change
the shape of the base and the color scheme and expect
us to consider it a new NEW imac... this is apple for
crying out loud...

i ever like that "cinema display" fake elevator imac
better...

why cant they just make another cube... save us some
cash... make the display optional... sure there will be
a bracket to hook up a cinema display to it so that
its all connected... but you could always just use another
monitor and let the cube sit by itself...

the thing i love about the g4 imac is the adjustable screen. i dunno, its just wonderful.

and just because the patent has a pyramid base doesnt mean the new imacs will. the patent was for the arm, not for the computer, anything but the arm could be different.

As for reintroducing the Cube, how's this?

I definitely think color is better. Just grab the iPod Mini's color scheme, and voila. The style differentiation between the PowerMac and the iMac line is always a good thing, too.

I like that design, only 2 problems that I see though.

The optical drive. You'd have to make the computer a little wider than the CD, and I don't know how that would work, I'd rather have it in a vertical position parallel to the screen.

The ports on the back. Every time you want to plug in another USB or FireWire device, you'd have to move the entire computer. (one of the gripes I have with the current iMac)


But I'd much much rather see a cube rather then anything else.

I completely agree about the pyramid base with the patent picture, I just didn't want to post the idea in the original thread because it would have been way at the botttom. The pyramid was just there to show the arm was connected to some type of base for the computer, they would never design it that way.

I'm not all for this version either, it looks cool but it's not funtional at all. No way to adjust it for viewing comfort. Also seems like it needs A LOT of table space to fit on, the exact opposite of the G4 version.

i do like those colored cubes... i could certainly see
getting silver or green if they were to stick with the
ipod mini color scheme...

i wasnt really trying to reference the pyramid to
anything... i just thought the design was cool...

i think the two arm patent may just be for something
they were working on but probably gave up on
somewhere in development...

hopefully we'll see tomorrow so they will ship
by christmas...

i always wanted a cube just because they are cool... it wouldnt
be that great an investment though as far as computing without
doing mods... a new cube would give all the cube fans a spify
new model...

ill still probably get an original cube someday though... just to have...
