How accurate are Apple.com's ship/receipt dates?

I ordered my MBP on Friday, didn't get my e-mail confirmation until yesterday (even though I'd been checking my Order Status every 6 hours and it was confirmed), and it says it's supposed to ship Jan. 22-24.

It's the 24th... nothing's happening. Is this usually the case?

With three macbooks:
One was left at a neighbors 2 days early, I got no note either digitally (on their website it said it was going to arrive later) nor in my door (it took a week for my neighbor to tell me)

One was ten days late, and the website was useless

One came on the day it said, exactly...

It's shipped through FedEx, sometime's they're a little slow. I ordered my (custom config.) Macbook on the 15, with a ship date of 19-22 and an arrival date of 22-25. It shipped on the 16th and arrived the 19th morning, so YMMV.

IMO Apple's dates are usually a bit pessimistic, things generally arrive before they are said to come
