Hello. I really need to use the macOS, but I cannot buy new. I have my eye on a really nice early 2015 13" i5 2.7/16GB 1867mhz/256GB SSD for $540.

Is that a good deal and will it still be able to have apps l ok we Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and light Premiere work?

Sorry. I am a novice when it comes to this, so all help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Seems like a fair price. I would check the number of charge cycles on the battery, and if it's high (500+) for a 3 year old notebook, you might need to replace the battery soon.

If it is still covered under AppleCare, it might be free, otherwise, it will set you back $129 to replace it at an Apple Store or authorized repair center.

You should be fine with those. The new ones aren't really that much faster. I would do it.

Cool. Thank you!

I will check the cycle, but he said he pretty much used it as a sort of desktop.

Thank you!

I sold my 2015 MacBook Pro (13-inch, Core i7, 16 GB, 512 GB) in the fall for €1500 and got a new 2017 one instead. Mine only had 150 cylces or something after 2,5 years. I used it mainly plugged into an outlet.

$540 seems like a steal.

double check if its the retina model your buying, from that price it sounds more like the one with cd drive, i have the exact same model, 16gb 256gb ssd, and i paid 910 for it. and they regularly go for over 1k easy on ebay and craigslist.

Thank you. I bought it yesterday. It does not have the CD drive. It wasn't in perfect condition, but it is in pretty nice condition. Reformatted to High Sierra and everything sends to be working just fine. I think I got a pretty good deal, and after reading what they are going for, I may sell it for a profit...hehehe. Just kidding. I am going to keep it.

I did run into a problem, though. It was partitioned with Windows 10. It took me a while to delete and combine the stinking thing. Finally got it to where I formatted the SSD to APFS and I was able to delete and combine the two partitions.

I picked it up yesterday and it looks good. It has 250 cycles on the battery.
