I have a new 2019 13" MacBook Pro. It is terrific.

However, I'm coming from an older MacBook Pro that had two regular USB ports.

I bought the Apple digital USB-C adapter (USB-C > USB-C/HDMI/USB) with the computer. However, I still get just one USB port. How am I supposed to get more than one USB port?

For example, I would like to connect two external hard drives at the same time, or a flash drive and charge my phone at the same time.

Browsing Apple's websites doesn't seem to answer any questions. There are dongles on Amazon that have 4 USB ports + HDMI on one dongle, but I don't know how functional they are because they are 3rd party.

The well rated units on Amazon work great. As good or better than Apple.
