I know it’s just over a week since launch, but for those who have gone caseless, how are the bands holding up?

I saw MKBHD mention in his review that his blue has gotten some scuff marks from normal use and this could be a problem on the darker colours.

Here’s the screen shot:

Mine lives in a case so it is not a concern for me at all. I had it on the case for my 14 pro max and it was pristine condition as day 1 when i traded it in (since I'm on iUP).

I just received the 15 pro max blue titanium. I don’t use my iPhone without a case so I probably will not encounter any scuffs on my frame. Plus I haven’t had it
Long enough to get any. When I am at home, I will take the iPhone out of the case to hold, but will never use it naked anywhere because I don’t want to risk damage nor do I care if someone else knows I upgraded by looking at my iPhone. I’m sure light bumps and low falls from a chair will cause scuffs depending on the material the iPhone strikes. Use a case to avoid scuff marks and other damage.

I saw the ifixit video where they were scratching the blue titanium iPhone under magnification. Of course it’s going to scratch if you run something sharp and metal across it. The stainless steel suffered from scratching as well. I think even if they did that with the aluminum standard models, the same scratching would happen.

All good here with my blue titanium. I have it in the Pitaka case, took it on/off several times and no scratches.

Use a case and/or don't drop it and it won't scuff. I'm familiar enough with MKBHD to know he probably uses his phones without cases and I'm also familiar enough with him to know that if doing that results in a scratched iPhone he will most certainly take to YouTube immediately for the clicks. He games the system with the best of 'em.

If it’s the same process as the stainless steel bands then great, as my black 14PM held up pretty well. Actually, it was being in the case that cased a few dots on the band for me - my fault really as I didn’t take it out of the case often enough. But when out of the case, for the last 6 months, it held up nicely.

And (apparently like MKBHD?) a lot of us never use cases, so it's good to know how durable a phone is. I can count on one hand the number of days I've had one of my iPhones in a case, going back to the iPhone 3G in 2008.

Blue pro here. Despite what anyone says regarding Apple using the “same process” for applying color, metals react differently and the titanium is more prone to scratches. Never used a case on my black 14pm, the only (extremely minor) nicks it has are from a fall on concrete; it has seen many falls and the band doesn’t have a single scratch. I’ve already got a nick and 1” scratch from the blue 15pm slipping out of my hand, hitting my watch a couple inches lower and landing on a bed. I love the phone, but the finish quality is extremely poor.

This version looks like a must to have a case with build defects that are showing up and the drop tests being out now saying much more vulnerable than years past.

Thanks for sharing. This is my concern and it’s pretty obvious that the finish is poorer then the 14 series.

My 14PM was solid and after a years use without a case only had a few tiny marks - the blue and black 15’s will look terrible in no time given your description.

There’s another 15 Pro black in our house and it has a scratch on the back glass which wasn’t there on launch day - it’s been in a case since day 2.

No problem. It’s definitely disappointing. Not looking forward to the condition of mine after some use. Interesting about the scratch on the back glass of your black pro.

Users with cases saying yeah no problems 🤣🤣

Sorry but yeah it is funny. My 15PM white has been fine case-less but I did have the blue for about a week and it was fine. I do think though the darker colors will show more marks which is pretty obvious.

Natural titanium holding just fine. Love this color. Love this phone.
OP asked about darker titanium band scuff mark impact which seems worse caseless than lighter titanium on white and natural/grey color. Your grey and my white titanium band which is the same, should not have obvious scuff marks on it. And I love my bright white one in a clear case 😊 the white is so beautiful and standing out wherever I put the phone anywhere.

Managed to drop my Blue Titanium Pro Max - went to put it on my pocket and missed🤦🏻‍♂️. In a case, thank god, but landed on a wood floor. You tube would have me believe I was screwed, but all good. Not a mark on case or phone 😀
