I used to get at most 300 kbps on 3G with my iPhone 3GS, now I'm seeing upload speeds as fast as 1200kbps on 3G. MMS messages fly now.

Mine went from around 2MB up, to what looks like an average of 2.5MB up. I am happy. Now, if it could only make my DSL speed match my 3G speeds.... sasa fraka CenturyTel racka fracka...

the old iphone 3gs was limited in the 300's kbps range for upload speeds.

There was an article either on Engadget or Cnet yesterday talking about their data testing. On a 3G network in New York, they were getting almost identical download speeds on the 3GS vs. IPhone 4, but upload was 10 to 12x greater on the 4 versus the 3GS.

If you watch the keynote again, at the 1 hr 46 min point, you'll see a presentation slide showing that Quad-band HSDPA/HSUPA capability of the iPhone 4 is 7.2Mbps down and 5.8Mbps up. (The 3GS does up to 7.2Mbps down but only 384Kbps up.)

Obviously the AT&T 3G network doesn't upload at 5.8Mbps but I've seen up to 1682Kbps in my brief testing of the iPhone 4.

On Comcast cable via WiFi, I typically get 10Mbps uploads -- which is the same for both 3GS and iPhone 4.
