How avoid Apple TV+ renewal banner placement

When I got up this morning, I saw that Apple TV+ had been renewed at 2 am. This means my spouse, who is not young and is tech-lite, accidentally renewed an old subscription. (We have absolutely no need for Apple TV+ at this point.)
I know Apple will not refund this, so I canceled any auto-renewal. However, when using the Apple TV remote and selecting the first page of choices (or 'Home' page), the cursor has always been landing on "renew Apple TV".
My spouse is used to a 'regular' all-in-one remote with broadcast TV. However, we are moving everything to streaming services, so is there a way to change page 1 (or 'Home' page) so that this will not happen again? It is so deliberate by Apple TV+, and it almost caught me the other day when I was distracted.

It doesn’t ask for a password or verification on your iPhone before buying something? That seems terrible especially for people with kids.

No. Simply click the wrong button and there is no remedy.
My problem is not knowing how to get the cursor to land on something other than “renew” now button.
