Maybe a custom app, if you have a garage door hooked up to an electronic switch connected to your home network. Don't know about the car.

I've seen one for the turning on/off of lights, so I am sure it may be possible..
But the day you lose it, say goodbye to your car and items inside your house!

They need to make an app where it flushes the toilet for you

I got a Viper alarm and the iphone app that I can lock,unlock, remote start, pop the trunk etc..
From anywhere in the world with my iphone. You dont even have to be within range.
The iphone even gets a notification from your car with a sound if your car alarm was triggered.

the brand Schlage already does something very similar to what you said. with your iPhone and a compatible SCHLAGE LiNK system, you can turn on/off the lights from inside your home or from miles away, as well as monitor cameras around your house, lock/unlock doors and change the temperature of your home.

Viper makes car alarms. Totally unrelated to the Dodge viper (though one could have a viper alarm in a viper I suppose).

$299 if the car is "iPhone ready".
$499 for a new installation.

Its a viper alarm system with remote starter. It can be installed on any car. You gotta install the Smartstart module to the alarm to make it compatible with iphone,blackberry and other smartphones.
It ended up running around $600 for it installed.
