OK. I've got a 1TB WD Green drive sitting on the shelf and am rapidly running out of disk space on every box on my home network, so I'm looking for advice from the sage MR community.

Essentially I have four options in order of technical difficulty

  1. Install it in an external USB enclosure, and hang it off the Airport Extreme/Time Capsule
  2. Install it in my decrepit Dell P4 (replace 750 GB)
  3. Install it in my Time Capsule (replace 500 GB)
  4. Install it in the Core Duo iMac (replace 160 GB)

I originally bought it for the iMac, but have not had the time to dedicate to open it up and replace the drive. The Time Capsule is looking somewhat attractive, since the 500 GB drive is getting full with the four machines dumping backups to it.

Anyone have any opinions? What would YOU do?

If I go the external route, anyone have any recommendations on a good, quiet, low power consumption enclosure that will look OK next to an AEBS or TC?

Thanks!

Install it in the Time Capsule, im buying the WD Green 1Tb Soonish, as someone else on here did, and he said he noticed significant heat and noise reductions, which is good.
