How Build to Order works as of late 2012?

I am in Los Angeles. So....if I order a MAcMini with fusion drive....will Apple quickly assemble it in US and ship to me, or will some poor kid in China build my computer and then I have to wait 1 week till the plane/truck/mail guy deliver it to my home?
