i have a few mp3 Files in the Apple Files app that I would like to add to my Music app so I can add those to the shuffle.

I know we can now delete songs from the Music app, but besides having to purchase them in iTunes, is there anyway for me to add my mp3 Files into the Music app?

Heck, it would be amazing if I could rename them as when I first imported them from a CD it simply states Track 1, Track 2 etc.

You can't without jailbreaking. And if jailbreaking is something you're willing to do then you need to be on the right firmware.

Currently there is no jailbreak for anything above iOS 12.1.2.

Thanks for the heads up, as much as I would like to jailbreak and as much as I used to enjoy jailbreaking my early iPhones, the truth is I just don’t have the time anymore and God for bid I’m in a situation where it’s a tethered jail break and I’m stuck at an airport or something. Also I really am on the latest 12.1.2

Time for things is a matter of priorities. If something is a priority in your life then you have or make time for it. So, jailbreaking is not a priority because it doesn't rise to a level of importance to you. You have other priorities that do, it's not that you don't have the time.

That's fine, we all prioritize the things in our life. To be honest, jailbreaking is less of a priority for me - but only because the state of jailbreaking has itself declined.

That said, the current jailbreaks are semi-UNTETHERED and require you to rejailbreak using the app when you reboot. There hasn't been a public semi-tethered jailbreak in a very long time. So your worry is unfounded. If you jailbreak and reboot now you are stock and your phone functions as if it isn't jailbroken at all - until you rejailbreak.

Chimera and Unc0ver are available for iOS 12.1.2.

The only way is an apple music subscription or buying songs from the iTunes store.

Apple wants you to listen to music on their products their way. They don't want you to listen to it your way.
Their way makes them money and keeps them in control. Your way is free and makes them zip.

Which is why having older Macs and workarounds are so much fun. :D

Streaming iTunes over the internet with the only version of iTunes that allowed it (4.0) from a library that was ripped CD by CD and also gets pushed up to Google Play Music via iTunes on my Windows PC.

Jailbreaking and using a tweak to browse the filesystem (connects to Dropbox) so I can use Bolt and Bridge to get my music, ringtones and video into the proper apps.

Apple doesn't miss PowerPC and Leopard 10.5 so they don't miss my money either. :)

You can download a file manager and export those files to file manager. Or you can download a media player that supports local library (VLC, foobar2000, VOX, to name a few), and export songs to those apps.

How?! Without a computer?!

Here is the original post. If files app in iOS 12 allows him to open the file in another app, he can open each MP3 file to another app and move files that way. Cumbersome for sure, but he at least does not need a computer to do so.
