Ever since seeing iPhone 5 I hate the silver look around the black 4S. Want to change it to black like iPhone 5.

Well there is nothing you can do with the glass back of your 4 except to replace it
I haven't seen any third party aluminium backs for a 4

How about a vynil cover?

Maybe you can buy a spray paint color and apply it very carefully. But I cant recommend it.

Why you hate it ? There is a guy in this forum we polish the anodized aluminum to the gray :)

Get some vinyl skins there are colors that simulate black anodized aluminum.

Check out The Lucky Labs and Sticker Boy

The band on the iPhone is not aluminium, it is stainless steel, so conventional anodising won't work on it.
A form of stainless steel anodising is available but needs a protective coating to be applied because it is not a durable finish.

sorry, I read black as back

that seems a lot of hassle for a colour change
to do it properly you would have to strip the phone down and paint the stainless parts

I wouldn't bother, throw a bumper on it
