I ordered my iPhone6 via apple.com
How can I buy applecare+ for new iPhone6?

Call Applecare once the phone arrives. You have 30days after arrival to purchase

Unless the AppleCare page is wrong, it is 60 days.

For United States, not sure where you are.

How to get AppleCare+

Add it to your shopping cart during the checkout process when you purchase your new iPhone.

Buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase. Your iPhone purchase date is the date we ship and charge you for your order:

At an Apple Retail Store (requires inspection of your iPhone and proof of purchase)

By calling (800) 275-2273 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase)

Yeah, that's a somewhat new'sh (July?) change they made.

My bad, I thought 30 days was with no need to go to the store for looking over. After 30-60 you need to be inspected by genius for damage before adding if this still holds true.

I never saw in cart when I ordered any in the past. I always do after the fact

No, it needs to be inspected if you don't buy AppleCare+ at the time of purchase.
You can also purchase over the phone and they do a remote diagnostic test.

This is how I got Apple care plus on the Verizon 5S that I gave to my daughter. Saves a trip to the Apple store for those who don't live close to one.

You sure about that? I guess they never tell me about the test but I thought the 30-60 period it needs to be physically looked at for damage before allowing purchase

I bought a used iPad Air off of eBay. The sales date was 5 weeks prior. Apple sold me AppleCare over the phone when I called and asked about if I could. They simply took my money. No tests or anything. He did ask me if it was running ok.
