macOS how can i change the color of NELevelIndicator

I am trying to change the color of the stars in the NSLevelIndicator. I would like inactive stars to be red outlines and active stars to be yellow solid stars.

Assuming to actually meant NSLevelIndicator, it doesn't look like you can customise the NSLevelIndicatorCell styles. In that case, you'd need to subclass NSLevelIndicatorCell and do custom drawing.
