How can I change the initial personal details during installation of Mac OS X. Can someone please let me in??

Thank you! :)

Reinstall is the only way I know. Why do you ask are you planing on selling you machine?

Which personal details?

Your name/address ones are in your Address Book but that won't resend the registration information to Amazon.

You can change the name of your computer in the Accounts preference pane. The only one you can't change (well, can't change easily) is the short name of your Home folder.

no, no.. i was just a little dubious about registering my actual details in the initial installation so i put in a fake name, which is now starting to annoy me.

eg. if i go to 'about this mac', the name is a phony one.

changing account details is useless.

any other way??

I wouldn't worry about it. I had one machine that I used Steve Job's name and address on the initial setup. Never and any problems with it..

heheh no prob.. i think i just need to change the short name though because changing the address book didn't make it 'xxxx yyyyy's' computer to what i wanted.

Did you even try what others said in terms of going to the Accounts section of preferences? That's where you can change the name of the computer to Your Name's Computer. And don't change the short name just in the box there... you can seriously screw up your Mac doing that

Account details and the computer name *are* changeable. As said earlier, the only part that isn't easily changeable is the short name of the home folder. System preferences->Accounts to change the login name, System preferences->Sharing to change the computer's name. The name of the startup disk is changeable by clicking on it twice. Reboot. None of this should be "useless" unless you aren't actually doing it.
