I just added a second hard drive to my MacBook Pro, so now I have an 80GB SSD boot disk and a 500GB storage disk.

I know that iTunes automatically backs up the iPhone to my User folder here:
User/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

But I would like to change the path so it backs up to my 500GB internal drive. Is there any way to change the location of the backup directory? I wasn't able to find anything.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

Have you tried moving that directory to the external drive, replacing it with an alias or symbolic link?
