I just ordered a new a laptop and would like to have my contents of my old HD (from a previous G5 I traded in) transfered to my new laptop. I have all of my programs licensed on my old HD, whose contents are now stored on an external HD that is formated as a boot drive. The old HD is 10.4 and my new laptop will be 10.5. The issue is that not all of my programs play nice with 10.5 and I'd like the OS on my new laptop to be 10.4 until all of the programs I use catch up to 10.5. However, I'd like to use all of the new iLife updates,as well as any other new software, that will be installed on my new laptop. Is there anyway to get those programs onto my external boot drive and then transfer all of the contents of the boot drive into the internal laptop HD?
